AtSS6 Sequence Data
TAIR Locus ID: AT5G65685
The genomic sequence analyzed spans nucleotides 25,990,000 - 25,986,901 on the complement strand of chromosome 5.
A full length cDNA is not available for this gene, so many of the intron/exon junctions have not been directly confirmed. The 5'- and 3'-untranslated regions noted in blue text are confirmed by EST sequences.
This gene codes for a partial homolog of the predicted SS gene family. It is significantly homologous only to AtSS-3, and AtSS-4, not AtSS-1, AtSS-2, or At-SS-5. The homolgy ends at about residue 800 of AtSS-3 or At-SS-4, whereas those two are significantly similar to AtSS-1, AtSS-2, or AtSS-5 between residues 800 and 960. So it is unlikely that AtSS-h6 is a complete SS enzyme, even though it is significantly similar in structure to parts of two complete SS enzymes.
Note on gene names: At this time we are using Project ID numbers as placeholders for specific gene names. There is no relation between the Project ID number and a particular enzyme subfamily.
